A safer uptown butte
In addition to cleanliness and appearance, another high priority for property and business owners is safety and security of Uptown. The Dedicated Uptown Policing Program will help reduce crime and mischief by serving as the community’s eyes and ears on the streets. The Uptown BID plans to contract with the City of Butte Police Department for Dedicated Uptown Police Officer (DUPO) program to provide additional patrol of Uptown Butte.

The addition of better lighting, community awareness and the collaborative efforts in partnership with local law enforcement and other agents will ensure a coordinate response to security of the District. Having allocated resources specifically for safety initiatives that might be broader than municipal budgets allows a targeted approach to meet the unique needs of the Uptown Butte
Objectives:
Reduce crime and improve safety for all Uptown Butte consumers and employees.
Provide dedicated policing services for the Uptown District.
Work with City Police to enhance crime-prevention efforts and to improve safety in Uptown Butte.
Collaborate with community leaders to reduce homelessness, loitering, and panhandling in Uptown Butte, including support of the Mental Health Providers – BMHSA and beyond.
